Indie Biz 3.0 Launch Day & a Giveaway

Launch Day CelebrationSo as I’ve mentioned, I just finished up the Indie Biz 3. 0 class over at Freckled Nest.  Today myself, along with many of my classmates will be doing a huge launch of new products, new blogs, new shops and giveaways.  As one of us so eloquently put it “We’re like butterflies emerging from our cocoons!”.  And so we are.

In celebration, I’m listing a few new products today that have been sitting on the backburner for WAY too long!  Also, I’m going to be hosting a little giveaway as a thank you to all my wonderful readers-both old and new!

Infant GownNow, there are lots of blogs and shops participating today, so don’t stop here and think that’s it!  I’ll be posting a list later today with ALL of the participating places you can go to check out new products, new shop openings, giveaways and/or exclusive discount codes.  It’s a rockin’ good time ya’ll!

Giveaway will be open for one week (so closing on Monday, April 18th, 2011), and is open worldwide!  How do you enter? Well, how about we keep it simple over here?  All you have to do is go to my shop and take a peek around.  Tell me your favorite item, or if there’s something you’d like to see-tell me that too!

My Indie Biz Class Binder

One of the things I struggle with every single day is the marketing aspect of my business (Froggy Girl Designs if you’re new here!).  I’m confident in my products and their quality level, that is VERY important to me; but the mechanics of getting them out into the world fails me on a regular basis.  Part of it is fear-not just fear of failure, but oddly enough a fear of success as well (yes, I know, I have issues).  I was brought up that you don’t talk about yourself, your accomplishments without being asked because that means you’re bragging, and overcoming that is HARD.  Really hard.  Then I find myself paralyzed with the mechanics of actually getting out there.  Paid advertisements? Ok-but where?  Blogs? Which ones?  Local newspapers? Ok-but how?  I have a very limited marketing budget and I haven’t been using it as well as I could.

Another big failure on my part is product photography.  I’m getting better but whoo it’s a big challenge!  So those, along with other things, are the impetus behind me finally taking the plunge and signing up for the Indie Biz 3.0 class, organized by Leigh Ann over at The Freckled Nest (w/ others).  I’m SO behind already, and it’s only been a week!  The very first project was to make our class binders.  There are all different ones with all different themes-from funky to vintage to very basic.  I think I’m the only one who went with a fabric slipcover though!

It took me a bit to start on this, because it’s So very rare to be doing something just for me.  Ya’ll know how it is, mom always comes last!  But I decided this needed to be ME, I looked through all my charm packs until I found the one that I though spoke to me the most about what I want from this class (and life in general to a point).  It’s from the “Make Life” line of fabric by Moda.

For the inside I just used stuff from the scrap pile, and as you can tell, it’s slightly too small for the binder.  Oops!  I included a piece of FOE in the seams to pull around to the front to help keep it closed and to act as a slight deterrent from little fingers.

Now to put it to use!
